A host of Atlantic Edge Music Services artists will once again be featured at this years Celtic Connections festival in Glasgow.

Chris and Catriona will once again have a huge involvement in th
is years festival.
They both appear in the opening concert of the marathon three week event on 14th January in the main auditorium as part of Jim Sutherland's 'True North Orchestra' along with a host of (in fact almost 50) other Scottish stars including Aiden O'Rourke, Lauren MacColl (Instrumentalist of the Year at this years Scottish Trad Music Awards) Fraser Fifield and Ross Ainsley.
There will also be appearances during the opening event from some of those due to appear later in the festival including Spanish piping legend Carlos Nunez and 'Lau'.

Chris and Catriona appear again in the Grand Hall of the Glasgow City Halls when Chris 'Brazilian Theory' take the stage on Sunday 17th January. 
Chris has travelled to Brazil on a number of occasions and been involved with several of that country's musicians over a number of years now. The Brazilian Theory is the next in an on-going series of collaborative musical adventures he's undertaken in this respect. Expect a dynamic synthesis of sounds and styles bridging Shetland, Scotland and Sao Paulo.
Chris is joined by 'Theory' cohorts Catriona McKay (harp), Ian Stephenson (guitar), Neil Harland (double bass) and Martin O'Neill (bodhran). The Brazilian element comes courtesy of Thomas Rorher (rebeca), multi-instrumentalist Carlinhos Antunes and Rui Barossi (bass).

On Friday the 22nd January Chris and Catriona team up yet again as part of the 'Fiddle Summit' in the Main Auditorium of the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
This is a truly international gathering of talent also featuring Darol Anger (USA), Alasdair Fraser (Scotland), Vasen (Sweden), Martin Hayes (Ireland) and Liz Carroll (Ireland)

And to round off a quite breath-taking involvement in this years festival Chris will also team up with long-term musical buddy Finlay MacDonald when he and his friends (in truth an international array of fellow musicians) play the Strathclyde Suite in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on 29th January.

BODEGA
Fresh from picking up the award as 'Best Folk Band' at this years Scottish Traditional Music Awards 'Bodega' once again find themselves in great demand for the Celtic Connections festival.
Their main appearance is in the City Halls on the 16th January when they headline their own concert at Celtic Connections for the first time - a step up indeed!!!!

They will also be delivering no less than five community concerts around Glasgow during the festival, taking their exciting music to new audiences all around the city. The concerts will take place in Barmulloch Community Centre (15th Jan), Barlanark Community Centre (21st Jan), Langside Halls (22nd Jan), Penilee Community Centre (28th Jan) and Knightswood Community Centre (29th Jan)
MARY ANN KENNEDY & NA SEOID
Mary Ann Kennedy & Na Seoid make a high profile return to Celtic Connections as part of the 'Jewel of the Ocean' concert in the Old Fruitmarket on Sunday 17th January. 
The concert explores the art of Gaelic song in all its guises featuring a glittering line up of performers from that culture. Among those appearing alongside Mary Ann Kennedy and Na Seoid are 1970's Gaelic legends 'Na h-Oganaich', supergroup 'Capercaillie', Ishbel MacAskill, Arthur Cormack, Griogair Labhruidh, Allan MacDonald, Kirsteen MacDonald, Mairead Ni Mhaoinaigh from 'Altan', Seamus Begley and recent inductee into the 'Scottish Traditional Music Hall of Fame' Rona Lightfoot. Very much the premier league of Gaelic song.
The concert has been arranged in association with the BBC and will be broadcast by them at a later date.
Mary Ann will also be presenting a series of live radio broadcasts for BBC Radio 3 from the festival throughout it's duration. See the concert programme for full details

SALTFISHFORTY
Orkney's dynamic and awesome power duo 'Saltfishforty' make their Celtic Connections debut as a duo in the Oran Mor on the 31st January - the final night of the festival.
Both members of Orkney's supergroup The Chair Douglas Montgomery (fiddle /viola) and Brian Cromarty (mandola, guitar and vocals) will most certainly help bring the 2010 festival to a blistering finale.

Fiddlers Bid on the BBC
BBC Alba have now broadcast the programme they filmed of Fiddlers Bid during this years 30th Shetland Folk Festival - a programme which also celebrates the band's own upcoming 20th anniversary.
