Al Murray in Shetland

June 16, 2011

Comedian Al Murray aka 'The Pub Landlord' brought his hugely acclaimed 'Barrel of Laughs' UK national tour to Shetland in June courtesy of 'Beyond' promotions - in association with local company 'Atlantic Edge Music Services'. Al searches for Shetland on his 'globe'

The totally sold-out Shetland show took place in Lerwick's Clickimin Centre in front of 1000 fans, with audience feedback from the gig proving hugely positive across the board, with many saying it had been the best show of it's kind seen in Shetland to date and that they had literally laughed from start to finish.

Murray's inter-action and banter with his audience as always proved to be one of the highlights of the show, with those audience members near the front of the stage particularly being in his direct 'firing-line'.Al takes on his audience

Davie Gardner - manager of Atlantic Edge Music Services - said "The show was a huge success and I'm delighted that not only the large audience appeared to have a fantastic night but also that Al himself seemed to have a great time too - both during the show and throughout his visit in general. I sincerly hope this very positive experience leads not only to him coming back to Shetland very soon, but also artists of a similar nature and stature in future into the bargain".

Davie Gardner said he would also like to thank all those who helped make the show a great success - particularly the management and staff of the Clickimin Centre, David Wagstaff and his 'Technical Production Services' team for the sound and lighting, Marvin Smith for his help in looking after Al and the show throughout the day and also Vaila and Karen for managing the doors / tickets on the night. And the audience take him on too!!!

He said he would also like to particularly and personally thank Robert Hicks of Beyond Promotions, Inverness for continuing to include Shetland in tours of this nature.
