Atlantic Edge Music Services have been awarded three fairly major contracts to manage events taking place in Shetland during 2009.
The company have secured the contract to manage and coordinate the full range of this years 'Johnsmas Foy' events in conjunction with Shetland Islands Council Economic Development Unit. The Johnsmas Foy, incorporating the Flavour of Shetland, and many other local events (including the Bergen Yacht Race) , takes place from the 18th June - 28th June inclusive. Full details of all the Johnsmas Foy related events will shortly be available on the Foy's own website. This years theme is 'Viking Shetland'.
AEMS have also secured the contract to manage and coordinate Shetland's presence at this year Offshore Europe Oil Exhibition in Aberdeen in September - on behalf of 10 local businesses / organisations who will be represented at the event under the generic banner of 'Shetland'.
AEMS, in partnership with Technical Productions Services, have also been awarded the contract to deliver this years Shetland Training Awards - for the third year in succession. The awards, sponsored by Careers Development Scotland, are aimed at students participating in national vocational training initiatives such as Skillseekers and Modern Apprentices. This years event will be held in the Clickimin Centre, Lerwick in November.
AEMS have also recently completed the contract to coordinate the Shetland Schools Music Festival on behalf of Shetland Islands Council. The festival took place over five days in March 2009 and featured over 250 individual and group musical performances from local school-children during the week - drawing from most of Shetland's primary and secondary schools. Around 1000 individual pupils took part in the event.

Fiddlers Bid on the BBC
BBC Alba have now broadcast the programme they filmed of Fiddlers Bid during this years 30th Shetland Folk Festival - a programme which also celebrates the band's own upcoming 20th anniversary.
