Chris and Catriona New Album

The long awaited second album from duo Chris Stout and Catriona McKay entitled 'White Nights' will be launched in late June at a special concert in Edinburgh on the 20th of the month - with the album officially released in August.

The new album, the follow up to their hugely acclaimed debut 'Laebrak', is a musical celebration of 'Northerness', and most especially the dramatic light in that part of the world - with that of the long summer nights and the dramatic tones of winter being interpretated through the music.

A number of tunes on the album have also been inspired by a crime novel set in Shetland, also entitled 'White Nights', by acclaimed author Ann Cleeves, with whom Chris has recently been collaborating during live appearances around the country.  One of the characters in the book, a fiddler who eventually gets murdered, was inspired by Chris himself.

The album will be officially launched at a special concert in the newly reopened folk club at 28 York Place, Edinburgh (aka The Police Club) one of Edinburgh's original folk music venues, originally run by John Barrow (Stoneyport Agency) and Ian Green (Greentrax Records). John is involved again this time around. Chris and Catriona's appearance will be the second concert since the venue reopened as a folk club a month or so back.

Tickets are £10 from the venue or, if still available, at the door from 7.30pm on the 20th. Tickets are also available from Coda Music, The Mound Edinburgh, or by e-mailing jwwelsh@btinternet.com or phone / text 07717 885 855.

Further tour dates in November to support the launch of the album will be announced shortly.
