Christmas Spree

November 22, 2010

Atlantic Edge Music Services has joined forces with the Shetland Folk Festival to promote a series of very special 'Christmas Spree' concerts in Shetland in the lead up to this years Festive Season.

The concerts feature power-house Orkney duo 'Saltfishforty', who will be joined by the hugely taleted trio of Begley, Henderson & Edey - being Irish accordion wizard Brendan Begley, Shetland fiddler Kevin Henderson (Fiddlers Bid, Boys of the Lough and Session A9) and multi-instrumentalist Tim Edey. Three wise men they may not be, but you can rest assured they will bring Christmas Spirit aplenty to the evenings in question!!!

In addition to the 'visiting artists' local super-group 'Fullsceilidh Spelemannslag will be adding their own unique brand of yule-tide fire and spice to the evenings, while our very own young good-tidings bringers Ryan Cooper (fiddler / guitar) and Adam Johnson (guitar and banjo) complete an impressive line-up of 'bah humbug' banishers!!!

So forget your 'Silent Nights', get 'fired-up' and make sure you don't miss out on these particular festive sprees, which should form the perfect backdrop for Christmas parties, or indeed whatever revellery or shenanigans you might have in mind for the Christmas lead-in.

The gigs take place in the Whiteness & Weisdale Hall on Friday the 10th December from 8 till late - and again in the Royal British Legion, Lerwick on Sunday the 12th December from 4pm - 8pm. The Saturday night concert in Muckle Roe is already sold out.

Tickets for both concerts are available from High Level Music on Commercial Street.

On the 9th December Begley, Henderson & Edey + Saltfishforty will be stopping off in the 'Reel', Broad Street, Kirkwall as their musical sleigh wings it's way toward Shetland. Tickets for this gig are now on sell from the 'Reel' in Kirkwall.
