Gemma for Canada
Young Shetland fiddler Gemma Donald, an ex Shetland Young Fiddler of the Year and the Glenfiddich Scottish Fiddle Champion 2006, has been booked to appear at this year's prestegious Goderich Celtic Roots Festival in Ontario Canada in August.
For the first week of the event Gemma will be teaching Shetland fiddle at the pre-festival Celtic College in the company of fiddler and accompaniest Troy MacGillivary, before appearing at the festival as an artist in her own right.
Davie Gardner of Atlantic Edge Music Services who manages Gemma said "This is a fantastic opportunity for Gemma to expand her horizons still further. She is a brilliant young player as can be seen from the many national fiddle titles she has already won, but this is an important step up for her in terms of personal profile and experience. I know she is more than up to the challenge though".
