Na Seoid Sing Big
November 20, 2010
Mary Ann Kennedy & Na Seoid are to play a prominent role in a large concert in Perth Concert Hall in November called the St Andrew's Day 'Big Sing'.
The concert, which takes place on the 27th November, will feature eight choirs singing in English. Gaelic and even Mandarin. There will be several artistic collaborations throughout the evening, with Mary Ann Kennedy & Na Seoid performing with the famed Aberfeldy Gaelic Choir and also with a new choir the 'Horsecross Voices'
The Chinese / Mandarin connection is due to the fact that during the evening the venue will also be unveiling a massive artificial moon in the auditorium of the building, an installation created by Chinese artist Wang Yuyang. The choirs involved will perform around the artwork to provide added atmosphere.
Further details of the concert can be found - HERE
The male contingent of Na Seoid (6 members) will also be involved in a very special project, again in the Perth Concert Hall that weekend (Friday the 26th), entitled 'Only Boys Allowed'. Na Seoid will join over 1000 primary school boys aged 7 - 9 years from various Perthshire schools is a project themed 'The Battle of the Clans' - which ties in with the 800 years celebrations of Perth becoming a Royal Burgh.
A special piece of music has been written especially for the event by group members Norrie MacIver and Calum Alex MacMillan, and this will be performed by Na Seoid and the 1000 boys - a performance that will also feature a dance element courtesy of Andy Howitt - Artistic Director of YDance.
This should be a visually and musically exciting spectacle to witness.
