Newton Faulkner in Shetland
November 22, 2010
Chart topping singer / songwriter Newton Faulkner recently performed a sell-out concert in Lerwick's Clickimin Centre as part of a short Highlands and Islands tour - with the Lerwick gig promoted in a partnership between Beyond Promotions based in Inverness and Atlantic Edge Music Services in Shetland.
1000 punters were on hand to witness what many ultimately regarded as one of the best concerts seen in the islands in recent years, with Newton in relaxed form and road testing some of the material likely to appear on his new album due for release sometime in 2011. "This is part concert, part social experiment" he quipped, before going on to perform hits such as 'Dream Catch Me', 'If This is It' and 'Over and Out'.
Davie Gardner of 'Atlantic Edge Music Services' said that Newton's performance was nothing short of incredible. "He's an amazing solo performer - certainly one of the best I've seen anywhere" he said. "The highlight for me was the way the crowd got totally behind him right from the off and the fact that so many young folk were in the audience as well - some witnessing their first gig ever. We even got the opportunity to take in what turned out to be a terrific display of the Northern Lights after the show - a stunning way to round off a stunning evening" he said.
