Saltfishforty

BIOGRAPHY

Saltfishforty are a fresh and dynamic duo who hail from the Orkney Islands ~ Douglas Montgomery (fiddle / viola) and Brian Cromerty (guitar  / mandola / vocals)

Together they combine the rich traditional music of Orkney with original contemporary compositions (both instrumental and song) and to date have three albums to their name - 'Goosemusic' (2003) 'Orkney Twister' (2005), and the critically acclaimed 'Netherbow' (2010)

For a taste of what they have to offer see them perform at Shepley Spring Festival 2010 - Click HERE

They have a well established reputation as a powerful live act on the Scottish festival circuit, and have also travelled extensively on the international live scene performing at festivals in Spain, France (including two trips to the Cannes Film Festival), Ireland, Belgium, Norway, the USA and Canada.

In July 2010 they completed a hugely successful 10 date 'Tune Up' tour of Scotland with the acclaimed English duo of Spiers and Boden - a pairing which prompted Folk Radio UK to observe "This is undoubtedly one of the most successful, and most enjoyable, collaborations I’ve seen in a long time" - following their gig at the Byre Theatre in St Andrews.

It's hard to believe such a full and powerful sound comes from a duo - you will be amazed!!!!
